Approximately 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the region, producing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered power outages after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

Climate Outlook
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
